This is a very simple and delicious marinade for beef kabobs. I cut the recipe in half for about 1.five lbs. of meat. I used olive oil instead of veg.oil, depression sodium soy sauce, and dijon for the prepared mustard. I left out the meat tenderizer, put everything into a ziploc bag and marinated it for over 24 hours. I skewered the meat separate from the peppers, onions, and cherry tomatoes equally they cook at unlike rates. The meat was very tender and total of season - perfect with a side of rice.

This marinade is something else! My fellow and I fabricated shrimp and steak kabobs this night using this marinade. I only had nearly 4 hours to marinade only it turned out amazing. I can but imagine what a steak would gustatory modality like after 24 hours in this stuff. I wouldn't change a matter! I made a double batch and non only marinated the steak but also the shrimp, mushrooms, carrotts, and zucchini. I used a seperate pocketbook for the veggies. Likewise, used a low sodium soy sauce and used as much as the recipe called for and it was excellent, non also salty at all. I would requite it more than stars if I could!

Gauge what? We tried it on venison. We cutting dorsum on the oil and rather than msg we used montreal steak spice for a chip more zippo. All I can say is WOW!!
06/03/2008
FANTASTIC!! I doubled the recipe and permit a combination of sirlion and chicken chunks marinate for several hours. I reserved some to brush on while cooking. I besides used pineapple chunks, cherry tomatoes, green peppers, scarlet onions, and mushrooms on our kabobs. I cooked them nether the broiler and brushed the kabob with the marinade several times during cooking. I will be using this over again and once again.
06/04/2000
Fabricated the meat very tender. Very Good! Next time I will add a piffling more spices. My son and his friend simply walked in and grabbed a kabob. My son's friend said the meat is very flavorful. After eating the leftovers my husband said to come back and change my rating to Excellent (5 stars).

fantabulous! the mustard really gives this a good sense of taste!! i doubled the recipe and used most 6 cloves of garlic plus maybe 1/2 t. of garlic powder. Marinate your steaks overnight grill em 4-half-dozen min on each side. perfect!!
08/18/2003
I made this for my mom's birthday and everyone RAVED over it!! Our neighbors were intrigued by the smell and and then at present I have to give out tons of copies of this recipe!! What a hit! I used about 3/4 cup oil and instant beef broth and seasoning mix instead of the msg. I besides used Bragg Liquid Aminos instead of soy sauce (they take the SAME taste and both are made of soy beans, Braggs is just way healthier). We will apply again and again!!!!!
02/09/2007
This recipe was amazing for beef kabobs! I used spicy brown mustard because that'south all I had, and permit it set overnight as it says. It was and so good that I wanted to endeavor it on something else. I chose pork in a slow cooker- it was way too overpowering. I guess I learned my lesson. Can't have too much of a good thing. ;) Information technology Definetly deserved 5 stars with beef, and the recipe now stays with all my family recipes that I program to pass on when I accept children one twenty-four hour period.
12/14/2005
Excellent! Used this on cubed beefiness for our big BBQ and at that place were no left overs. We added carmine and orange peppers to the scewers along with a mushroom here and in that location. Instead of soy sauce I used Tamari Sauce since it's not every bit salty. I likewise fabricated extra marinade for portabella mushrooms since my sister is a vegetarian. She absolutely loved them! It's great over rice! as well!
01/19/2006
Excellent! I've only used chicken, and it'south and then tasty! If you just marinate the whole chicken breast, it won't totally penetrate the meat. Information technology's ameliorate to cutting it up...go for the kabobs! Sometimes I utilize simply a tad less soy sauce...if you have very small-scale pieces of meat, they volition tend to taste besides salty.
06/08/2005
This recipe is very similar to ane my mom has used for years, but with Worchestershire and much more oil added. The added ingredients made all the difference in the earth. The meat was so tender and delicious! We are definitely going to keep this one.
09/12/2011
There are a lot of ingrediants in exchange for footling season. The taste was "fine" but I didn't call back it was all that flavorful. I might add a little cumin or cayenne pepper if I were to use again.
07/09/2008
I was expecting a cracking marinade thanks to the few ratings I read that were 5 stars. I should of looked at the other ratings. I made this this evening, marinating the steak for 24 hours, and I was very disappointed. This tasted very salty like it was straight soy sauce. I followed the recipe to a tee. I definitely will not be using this recipe again...
06/10/2012
Awesome! I cut the recipe in 1/2 since I was doing a smaller portion. And I just marinaded the veggies (zuccini, thai eggplant, mushrooms, bong pepper, red onion), every bit I was grilling hamburgers. I had less than an hour to marinade, merely decided information technology was better than goose egg. The veggies are amazing! I would imagine meat would exist crawly too. Oh I didn't use whatever meat tenderizer, for obvious reasons, lol. Cheers for posting!
06/07/2010
used this on shrimp kabobs w/ mushrooms, broccoli and onions. i only had about 3 hours to marinate and they turned out great! this volition exist my new go-to marinade for Annihilation!!
07/27/2014
I made this for beef kabobs and added one/iv cup of sweet chili sauce. I besides used dijon mustard and let it marinate for four hrs. It was amazing. I drizzled a piddling bit of the marinade over skewers of mushrooms, onions, red and yellow peppers and yellow cerise tomatoes. Fifty-fifty my children who normally don't like any of the vegetables loved information technology. This is a new family unit favorite!
05/15/2009
I made this marinade for steak and chicken kabobs on mother'due south 24-hour interval. The only changes I made were to use light soy sauce and no meat tenderizer. This is the best marinade I accept ever tasted. My begetter already requested this for father's solar day. I marinated the meat for 12 hours and boiled the leftover marinade from the steak bag to brush on the onions and peppers while grilling. Awesome!
09/08/2009
I marinated beef for kabobs and information technology was delicious!! Very easy and quick to brand with ingredients about already have on mitt. I honey the mustard gustatory modality in it. My husband idea it was the best narinade he'due south e'er tried!
01/07/2012
I fabricated chicken with this. I also marinated green peppers and mushrooms, both of which turned out really well! In the left over veggie marinade sauce, I too cooked pearl onions. The chicken was probably a 3.v.
07/eleven/2005
Crawly - married man loved it. I used this to marinade thin pork steaks and and so brushed some of the marinade over the veggies (husband thinks he doesn't similar kabobs - but its the same thing, just not on the stick! lol) He loved this so much he said we will accept to attempt it out on london broil - and the best statement "I would similar to consume like this every night!"
12/eleven/2004
Thank you to all who have spoken so favorably of my marinade. I just love seeing all of your variants and trying them as well. Now I likewise have taken so many others advice and have also been cutting back on the oil myself. Thanks, JON.
07/29/2005
My mother has made this marinade for shish kebab for over 35 years, back when it went by the name "California Marinade" on her recipe card. She added ane/iv tsp onion powder which I still practise, and over the years found that using lower-sodium soy sauce reduced the saltiness (which we never minded!) and allow the beef/craven/pork/lamb flavour come through. Actually tenderizes the meat & tastes fabulous skewered & grilled with ruddy tomatoes, zucchini medallions, onion quarters, white mushrooms, bong pepper chunks and even fresh pineapple. Baste frequently with this luscious sauce & serve with steamed rice &/or fresh corn for a satisfying meal.
08/06/2008
I employ olive oil, squeeze a real lemon, and leave out the meat tenderizer. I besides prefer depression-sodium soy sauce because it gets too salty after hours of marinating, in my opinion. BUT this recipe has been such an awesome improver to my rotation of meals. Everyone that has information technology LOVES information technology. I well-nigh e'er just use chicken and veggies (the mushrooms are fantastic) only shrimp are corking, too! This is a standby Visitor Dinner for me and it'south e'er a success.
08/16/2005
This is very skillful! I would have given it five stars, but I thought it was a bit too salty, equally did other reviewers. I will utilise it over again, for sure, but I'll make an aligning of low sodium soy sauce, or perchance a couple of tablespoons of brownish sugar. I used it on rib steaks and grilled them. Very yummy!
12/09/2010
Tried a million kabob marinades over the by few months. This was the ONLY 1 that wasn't overwhelmingly lemony. Really enjoyed. The flat smelled great too. Update: Made if for the entire family for NYE using cheap rump steak. The kabobs were admittedly melt in the mouth. Fantastic marinade. They marinated for about 5-six hours
06/09/2010
This marinade is the BEST EVER!!! I made beef kabobs using this marinade and they turned out so practiced !!!!!! Juicy and and so full of flavor. I highly recommend this to everyone. I will admit, I am not a large mustard fan, merely I had no problem with it in this recipe. Its a must try recipe !! Making once again tomorrow for dinner.
09/01/2005
I used this recipe to marinate a flat fe steak for about 4 hours. Information technology was succulent and my kids thought they were eating a very expensive cut of beef. I'll use this marinade on many more recipes.
06/30/2007
Flavorful! Reduced oil to three/four c, soy sauce to 1/ii c and marinated cubes of striploin overnight. I did use the Marinated Grilled Vegetables marinade for the vegetables on the skewers because I thought too much of same seasoning would exist monotonous. The meat was fabulous - tender and flavorful. Volition definitely be making this once again.
08/04/2011
I have used this with beef, chicken, and pork, OMG this marinade is only AMAZING!!!
05/xix/2010
We had a frozen cut of beef that was on the tough side...this marinade turned it into FANTASTIC, melt in your mouth steak on out kabobs. I only had time to marinate it for ii one/two hours...I can merely imagine it would exist even better if I had more time to marinate it! Will use again. Piece of cake, cracking season, tough steak turned to gold!
07/25/2011
We doubled this recipe to utilise for shrimp kabobs. Nosotros marinated them for almost an hour. They were succulent. Our skewers had only the shrimp and we put five on each skewer. We turned them one time...cooked about 3 minutes. Everyone loved them!
09/05/2002
Great Recipe! Family's favorite marinade, and friends love information technology also. Dropped the MSG, and have had it on beef, pork and Chicken. Chicken seems to blot the flavor the all-time. After marinading over night, I remove the meat, bring the marinade to a boil, then later on information technology has cooled, use it to baste the kabobs on the grill. I have played around by adding 1/2 tbs fresh ginger, substituting i/two of the lemon juice with Pineapple, etc, but the original is great.
01/19/2006
Absolutely fantastic... I served these at a BBQ last summer and one of the guests who is a chef asked me for the recipe! Didn't change a thing except marinated the veggies every bit well :)
09/02/2012
This was very tasty. I let it marinade for 4 hours and it was tasty fifty-fifty then! I did find the mustard gustatory modality to be a flake overpowering at start, but as I ate more than, the more I enjoyed it. I am excited to apply this marinade for a full steak!
03/24/2012
This was very practiced. We used olive oil instead of vegetable oil and lime juice in place of lemon (had no lemon). It was very expert on both the steak and shrimp we had, as well as the veggies, all of which we marinated in divide containers. I added a raspberry/italian dressing to the veggies and shrimp, equally we needed a lilliputian more than marinade for the amount of food on hand. Easy to make and skillful on everything. Thanks for sharing.
06/21/2011
this actually good... I cutting the recipe in one-half and added 1/2 cup of pineapple juice and 1 tsp. of Citrus Grill Seasoning. Citrus Grill Seasoning is fabricated by the Tone visitor. Sometimes y'all can find it at Sams Club. I had to buy it on the net this time. Sams was out of it. Cracking stuff!
06/02/2007
Today I tried this recipe, I followed it to the tee. Expecting a wonderful season I was highly disappointed.I found it to exist very salty and although it was ok on chicken information technology did non work with the beef.Surely there has to be something improve out there.
08/25/2004
This is pretty much all I use when making kabobs. Awesome flavour. I unremarkably halve the amount of oil suggested and I don't really discover a departure in taste. I similar to cutting downward on fatty when I can. :) Thanks for the recipe. This is a keeper!
11/20/2007
It'due south a striking every time and our guests always ask for the recipe!
09/25/2010
I love this recipe. After trying a few store bought marinades, this ane tops them all. I will not buy another steak marinade. I use it on grilled steaks, craven and veggies. My family loves it.
04/16/2014
good recipe simply very salty perchance use a low sodium soy sauce
08/23/2010
This was a fabled marinade. I cutting the beef into chunks and marinaded for well-nigh 5 hours. It was perfect.
03/14/2006
I LOVE this marinade. We take used on everthing from hamburger, steak and potatoes to zucchini. It is corking on everything. We sometimes make a double batch leaving out the oil and cook it down to form a dipping sauce. YUMMMMMM! You sould definetly endeavor this!
04/10/2010
Unbelievable marinade as is!! Hither'south a cooking tip. Sear kabobs on a BBQ grill on high (don't let them burn). Place kabobs in an oven at 350 degrees for about ten-12 minutes until done to taste. Put kabobs on a bowl and pour the juices over them. Permit sit down for 5-10 minutes and so serve (allows juice to get back into the meat). Some of the juiciest, tastiest meat you'll ever accept!! Works very well with chicken and steak. Has a very nice smoky sense of taste. Some people even swore I used liquid fume!
06/22/2003
This was actually bang-up. I made it for my parents and grandmother, and they all gave it five stars. I followed some other people's advice, and cut downward on the oil. I also put Dijon mustard, and Montreal steak spices. Information technology just marinated for iii or 4 hours, and it added flavor to the meat without overpowering it. Really delicious!
05/31/2011
Chicken came out so tender and tasty. Marinaded for 5-six hours. Perfect as is - no changes fabricated.
10/21/2011
wonderful flavoring!
07/13/2004
We were disappointed... which completely surprised me after all the five star reviews. I halved the recipe and marinated our 1lb round steak for 24 hours. Tasted strangely sweet and very mustard-y (I used obviously onetime yellow mustard because the recipe didn't specify dijon).
06/29/2003
Scrumptious! We used this marinade with skewers of lycopersicon esculentum, onion, zucchini, red peppers, greenish peppers and mushrooms and basted it every 1/two hr over a 3 hour period and so bbq'd them. The taste was incredible! (Didn't use any MSG)
01/25/2012
Very yummy!!!
10/eleven/2011
This is admittedly succulent. Used information technology on alligator Kabobs and it was perfect.
04/21/2010
This was delectable on the meat, but I didn't similar it on the veggies very much (Ithink it was the mustard on them I didn't like). Marinated the meat in information technology overnight and it was so tangy and delicious!
03/29/2007
This was a wonderful marinade and easy to make. Much better than the bottled ones. Would probably be great on a whole steak instead of just kabobs. I highly recommend this recipe!
04/01/2012
I halved this for one pound of shrimp; after putting together the kebabs and before grilling, I likewise brushed some of the marinade over the veggies. This was very good. It was a chip salty, but since the shrimp had marinated and the veggies hadn't, it was really merely the meat that was too salty. I am definitely keeping this recipe to make again!
08/06/2006
Ecellent marinade, thought the ingredients were different so I was skeptical but information technology made the best kabobs I let it marinate overnight and used low sodium soy sauce and it was non to salty, next fourth dimension I think I volition try Dijon mustard! Thanks for the mail service!
12/10/2005
Great recipe! This is and so easy, as all the ingredients are already in my kitchen. We have used it on almost every meat that we take cooked, and it turns out great every time. We only use the tenderizer on cheap cuts of meat.
05/08/2012
I used this marinade at a neighborhood BBQ. Everyone asked for the recipe. I did make a few changes. I used ane/two cup vegetable oil and 1/2 cup olive oil. I did non add together the meat tenderizer. I marinaded my meat and vegetable in different bags and then used the extra veg marinade to brush equally the kabobs cooked. Delicious!
06/12/2006
Like other people have commented it is a fleck salty later on having this in the fridge for about eighteen hours. I'll endeavour it again next fourth dimension either using low sodium soy sauce or reducing the fourth dimension in the refrigerator to 12 hours or less. I used pinnacle sirloin for the kebobs but will as well experiment with chicken sometime.
09/25/2005
I tried this recipe with moose meat, and information technology was terrific. I used depression-sodium soy sauce and made kabobs with the meat and some peppers and pineapple. Everybody loved information technology. I will definitely use this over again.

05/xiv/2006
I found this recipe just about an hr and a one-half before we were scheduled to eat. So, my meat only had most an hour to marinate. I was quite pleased and probably wouldn't marinate it longer than that because the marinade is very salty and I think too much longer in it and the meat would take been too salty for our gustatory modality. I made kabobs of steak, green pepper and pineapple and marinated both the pepper and the meat and was very pleased with how information technology turned out.
07/12/2014
This was a large hit at a recent barbecue. We used information technology to marinate tenderloin nosotros grilled. Everyone thought information technology was awesome!! I followed the recipe every bit written except I used less Worcestershire sauce. A quarter cup seemed to much for our tastes. Nosotros did marinate the meat overnight.
10/12/2011
This is a delicious marinade. I utilize less oil (about i/2 cup) and dijon mustard. Wow! Everyone loves information technology and asks for the recipe! I utilize boneless chicken thighs and tenders and marinade for 24 hours! Don't marinade your veggies too long... the lemon juice starts to break it down. After removing the veggies from the split marinade purse, I boil the leftover marinade and put it at the table to pour over the dish! I serve with Jasmine rice....Yumma!
05/25/2010
Very adept, particularly on craven.
09/06/2004
This was tasty. Adjacent time I will reduce the lemon to 1/3 as I thought it was a little overpowering.

Simply amazing. I didn't change the recipe one bit and information technology was spot on.
06/28/2014

This is a really excellent marinade - we apply information technology all the fourth dimension for kabobs.
04/30/2004

07/09/2007
First-class for Kabobs or Flank Steak. It's a bit too salty for regular steak
05/02/2004
I marinaded chicken breast I had cut in cubes for a "pot-luck" kabob nighttime we had with some friends. Our son got sick at the final infinitesimal, so my husband took this to the party without me. He told me everyone raved and asked for the recipe. I did make a slight change, I use 1/8 c. country dijon and 1/8 c. yellow mustard and did not utilise the meat tenderizer. Will pull this recipe out the side by side time I need a loftier WOW factor!
01/12/2008
This recipe is fantabulous. I cut it down to 2 servings and utilise it to marinate london broil (aprox 1 1/2 lbs). Information technology always turns out tender and flavorful. I also substitute low salt soy sauce, dijon mustard and leave out the meat tenderizer. This has been our standard and favorite marinade for over a year at present.
05/12/2013
Yum. Merely made this. Added a bit more garlic, a slash of red wine and a splash of Bovril. Replaced meat tenderizer with a couple of teaspoons of Montreal Steak Spice as suggested earlier. Huge hit with the entire family!!
08/03/2003
Yum, yum, yum! I take used this marinade on chicken and steak kabobs, and both were delicious. I also substituted various spices for the MSG. They looked gorgeous and tasted like heaven--got me lots of compliments from guests! Cheers for a great recipe!
07/27/2019
So easy and it came out not bad! Anybody has been requesting the recipe!
08/25/2011
Crawly as written. I establish 4 hours to exist plenty of fourth dimension for beef sirloin. Side by side time I might endeavour reducing the oil past one-half. I didn't find it Too oily, but I call up it might be just as adept with less.
05/20/2007
Shish kabob is one of our favorites for the grill, and so I looked frontward to trying this recipe. I wasn't disappointed; it was fantastic. I used cubed chicken breast and sirloin. I've tossed my collection of other marinades and settled on this 1.
